I’ve been sitting on this package for months.<\/p>\n
Maybe I should have held off telling you that I was going to mail it, but
\nI was so excited to send it off
\nthat day and I wanted
\ninstant gratification
\neven at the expense of the firework boom of surprise.<\/p>\n
But the post office,
\nwhile not far away,
\nnot really,
\nis a bog of bureaucracy,
\npaper trees that never blossom,
\njust sit obscuring vision,
\nand people wandering lost,
\nwondering, lost,
\nthinking that’s just the way of things.<\/p>\n
The post office,
\nno matter how much I decorate the box,
\nor fill it with little big nothings,
\nthe post office
\nwould ruin my moment and
\nyour moment
\nfor me.<\/p>\n
The package is just sitting there now
\ndust replacing meaning
\ndust usurping thrill
\nuntil it’s just a box
\nto be checked off a to-do list.<\/p>\n
And even I don’t remember
\nwhat’s in it.<\/p>\n
I want to open it,
\nand see
